The Process
We have had the privilege of maintaining the wood floors at the Picnic House for over 20 years. 2024 said it was time to replace the flooring. The Picnic House is a beautiful 4,000-square-foot venue inside Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. It is available for wedding and party rentals. Over the last 20 years the floors have taken lots of spilled drinks, dropped plates, and hot dance moves.
Brooklyn Commercial Flooring Contractor
With such an ample commercial space, the work must be done in an orchestrated order. We don’t want there to be any lag time, especially knowing that they have events coming up
We started the floor replacement process by demolishing and discarding the existing flooring. After that was complete, we replaced the subfloor. While the plywood subfloor is being installed, the new beech wood flooring is on site and acclimating to the environment. This period of acclimation is essential and should not be skipped. The solid hardwood flooring needs time to adjust to the humidity and temperature of the new space in which it is to be installed. Without this acclimation period, the wooden planks could cup, crown, expand, shrink, or warp after installation.
Next, we installed the new flooring. Nailed down and ready for sanding and finishing. We sanded and applied the finish coats, allowing each coat to dry properly. We cleaned up and thanked the Prospect Park Alliance for trusting us.
