Sanding and refinishing historic wood floors in Brooklyn
We recently completed a wood floor refinishing project in Mill Basin, Brooklyn, restoring a historic wood floor and bringing new life back to the original flooring.
Rather than replacing the existing floor, the goal was to preserve as much of the original wood as possible. Over time, wood floors become worn, scratched, dull, or discolored from years of foot traffic + pets + kids + indoor family sports competitions, etc. Professional wood floor refinishing can often restore these floors without removing the character that makes them unique.
For this Brooklyn home, we carefully sanded and refinished the wood floors. We are also replacing the baseboards. The process refreshed the wood’s appearance while preserving the original floor and its historic character.
Refinishing an older floor requires a different approach than installing new hardwood. The condition, age, existing finish, and wood type all need to be considered before determining the best refinishing process.
