Starting With the Subfloor
Before any flooring goes down, the concrete has to be ready. We prepped the subfloor, then applied a moisture primer to seal it. This step cannot be skipped. Moisture is the enemy of wood.
Soundproofing Matters in a Building
Nobody wants to be “that neighbor.” We used a soundproofing glue during installation: it acts as an adhesive and a buffer, reducing the impact noise that travels between floors. In a co-op or condo building, this isn’t optional. It’s required.
The Product: 9-Inch Wide Plank Engineered Oak
We installed 9-inch wide plank engineered hardwood with an oak wear layer. The wear layer is the top surface aka the real wood you actually see and walk on. It’s what gives the floor that genuine hardwood look and feel.
The wide plank format makes a space feel bigger and more open. In Manhattan apartments where square footage is tight, that visual impact matters.
