Brooklyn Heights is a beautiful historic area with homes that deserve beautiful flooring. One of our recent clients was tired of the vinyl flooring they had. It was scratched and showing wear and tear. They also did not like the color. The floor was hard to clean. We smoothly removed the vinyl flooring and prepped the subfloor to prepare for the new floor installation. We installed beautiful prefinished engineered oak flooring. We added shoe molding around the edges to give the floor and baseboard a nice finish. Floors in NYC are hardly ever perfectly level, leading to gaps between the floor and the baseboards. If you caulk this gap, it is likely to crack within weeks. Shoe molding can be installed to solve this issue quickly and affordably to cover the gap between the baseboard and the floor. The color and style of the new floor drastically changed the look and feel of the space. The client was thrilled, and we were in and out fast.
Pros of prefinished engineered oak flooring
One of the most significant advantages of installing prefinished engineered flooring is that the installation can be completed very quickly. There is no sanding, staining, or clear coating, and this type of flooring can be installed rapidly and walked on quickly due to no drying or curing time.
Another pro would be the floor you pick, which will look exactly like the sample color and size.
The con of prefinished engineered oak flooring
The main con with engineered flooring, in general, is the amount of times it can be sanded and refinished. Most engineered flooring can only be sanded and refinished 1-2 times. Keep that in mind when deciding.
