Recently, we took on a flooring project in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn—a neighborhood that practically oozes charm. The home we worked on had floors that told a story. Years of scuffs, scratches, and faded finish had left them looking more “meh” than magnificent.
Here’s how we flipped the script: sanding and staining. First, we stripped away years of wear with a pro-level sanding job. This isn’t just about making the wood look smooth but respecting its integrity. Cheap sanding can leave waves or gouges, but we treat every floor like art. We carefully put blue tape on all the edges of the baseboards so they don’t get scuffed or dirtied during the sanding process.
The star of the show? Golden Pecan stain. Golden Pecan is like the warm glow of a Brooklyn sunset—it’s rich, timeless, and perfect for this space. It added just the right amount of warmth.
Once the stain was set, we sealed the deal with a durable water-based satin finish.
The client chose Golden Pecan stain because they felt it was the perfect middle ground—warm enough to feel inviting but modern enough to pop.
