Is like putting together a beautiful puzzle for your home. First is ensuring the subflooring – the base layer your hardwood will sit on – is all set. It needs to be clean, dry, and level. If it’s not level, your new floor could end up like a wonky roller coaster! The subfloor also has to be strong enough to hold your new hardwood. Think of it as the foundation; you want it rock solid.
Installing those hardwood planks. In flooring, we mainly use two methods: gluing and nailing. Gluing involves applying a strong adhesive to fix each plank to the subfloor, which is especially effective for concrete subfloors often found in city apartments. Nailing, a more traditional technique, is ideal for wooden subfloors, ensuring each plank is firmly fixed. Once the flooring is in place, the key is patience. If it’s glued, it needs adequate time to properly set and adhere. Rushing this process might compromise the quality of your floor. Allow the necessary time for everything to settle, and before you know it, you’ll be enjoying your new, elegant hardwood floor!
